I did post about this a little while ago, anyone remember this bag I stalked for weeks? To help bring this look to life, a structured handbag is going to be the quickest and most worthy investment, look for details like a top handle, a twist or kiss lock of some description and a solid shape.
If you want to go completely on trend with the new season, I love this bag by Mimco. The texture and colour-blocking are brilliant.

Must have piece two: The shoes.
It may appear that the only way to go as far as shoes are concerned is a pair of sky highs, but to me this is neither practical nor the case. As a fashion realist I hardly ever wear a heel beyond two inches, and even then I have to know I'll be sitting down a lot.
Loafers are glorious on this occasion, they have be floating about in fashion for a little while now, but for the sake of comfort, suitability to the trend and a closed toe, I have to go a pair of these! Topshop has this gorgeous pair (online, not sure about the stores in Melbourne). The colour is perfect to wear with bare legs, but if you're wearing coloured tights, the trick is to match your shade of tights to make your legs go on forever.
Alright alright, sometimes you just can't go past a pair of heels can you? Keep an eye out for luxe fabrics such as satin and plush velvet, as well as jewel tones. I've always tried to keep the idea that you should never wear open toes with pantyhose, but I've seen it creeping in for this season so it's totally up to you, patterned stockings are amazing with this look so stock up. A thicker heel is also on the cards, keep an eye out for sky scraper versions of shoes that look like they're from the twenties.
