Do you rate Lipstick?

Lipstick is a product I find that even though it sells by the bucketload, I don’t actually see many people in the 15-30 age brackets that wear it. All the time I see young ladies pull out tubes of gloss and balm and applying but never (not even in the bathroom) are they ever carefully applying something with as rich a pigment as Lipstick.
And why not? Lipstick has been going through resurgence lately, along with the building trend for more groomed and complete Makeup. For years now it’s been mostly about the smoky eye and glossy lips and now we’re seeing (much to my joy) sleek cat’s eyes and perfect lips. Very glamorous, but also very scary if you don’t know what you’re doing right?
My best advice is to go to a makeup counter on a mission to find your perfect colour match. It doesn’t have to be the most expensive place, though counters like MAC and Chanel do have exquisite products and normally service to match. If you go into Priceline at the right time they will have Makeup artists willing you help you with more budget friendly ranges, and remember, budget friendly does not mean you are missing out on quality, Brands like Maybelline and L’Oreal have fantastic lipsticks.
Going and getting a professional’s opinion will boost your confidence of wearing Lipstick through the roof, Especially when it comes to buying and wearing colours that will grab attention. If you are truly nervous, buying a nude colour perfectly matched to you and learning to apply it properly before trying a daring shade is not a bad plan either.
A pro will also teach you how to apply it properly, and will take you through how to work the rest of your makeup so you don’t overdo your look. Contrary to popular belief you can get more than one look out of one colour depending on weather you wear it with liner, blot it down to a stain or even layer gloss or balm over the top.
Am I giving you any ideas? Hot trends to try this summer are punchy colours like Cherry Red and Fuchsia, try them without liner and blot them down, this will reduce the likelihood of lipstick on your teeth.

Mix Clothing at Coles

Admit it, you’re all curious. After all, who doesn’t like the idea of picking up a new singlet along with your milk? Coles have very recently launched their latest venture and while it certainly isn’t ground and trend breaking stuff, it just may well be a good place to stock up on fresh basics to wear with your wardrobe.
I personally haven’t had the chance to have a good look at the collection yet but I have to say I harbour some pretty big fears about wonky seams, unflattering cuts and styles that only an unkempt soccer mum would love. Looking at the collection online at http://mixapparel.com.au is promising though but you can’t be sure until you are able to feel and see the products in person.
Currently there are about a dozen stockists in QLD, has anyone been to check it out yet? Let me know what you think, I’m not sure if I’m quite up to the pilgrimage to get to any just yet.

Tip of the day: Where to apply blush

So where have we all always been told to apply our blush to? The apples of our cheeks. We've been told to smile, and then apply blush to the fleshy part that juts out under our eyes right? Wrong actually.
You see, when you apply blush to that part of your face when you're smiling, it drops down your face as soon as you stop. The only time doing this will work for you is if you're always smiling (and that kinda hurts after a while).
So instead, smile first, to remind yourself of the area to apply blush to, then stop smiling and apply it to the skin that is there now, and blend up and out.

Tip of the day: More anti aging

I've been meaning to post this since the weather has started heating up, its a good tip that can be overlooked.
Everytime you go outside you should be wearing sunnies. Why? Because squinting will give you wrinkles, and the glasses will reduce the urge.
The hottest style this season to be looking out for are fifties style cat eyes, there are a lot of flattering styles out there at a range of prices, my best picks for a bargain are Sportsgirl and Jay Jays.
I'm not understanding the fugly odd looking glasses that are out now though, can't say they're appealing to me when you can look so much better in classier styles.

P.S still no internet, this is starting to really annoy me.

Loving this week: Alannah Hill Cardigan and Scarf

I have been neglecting my Alannah Hill obsession for a little while now in an effort to save money, but I thought it was high time to go down there to check out the summer range and gasp at all the pretty little details.
I have to have this cardigan. it doesn't matter that now in Brisbane it's too hot to wear it until next year, I will love it for years! I'm a complete sucker for a cute motif, and this one takes the cake. It also carries over to the back of the cardigan too. Bliss.

Care to play cardigan by Alannah Hill

Another item that caught my eye was this cute as scarf, yet again, it's Spring, in Brisbane so no wearing until next year sometime but I can't help it! Winter clothes are just so much nicer! Circle design so it's not just your normal see everywhere scarf, I can see it sitting on tank tops and coats alike.
